2004 DWPI Backfile Enhancements (Frag codes)
You can now search the BCE fragmentation codes back to the commencement of DWPI. Codes have been added to the pre-1981 backfile to enable searching using a single non-timeranged strategy. The addition of these new indexing paragraphs containing the corresponding newer codes enables searching using simpler strategies, and should facilitate training of new searchers.
The codes have been added in such a way that retrieval should be as good as using a time-ranged strategy. Relevance should be as good, and for some searches will sometimes be better, as using a time-ranged strategy. Users who prefer to continue searching using the traditional time-ranged strategies can still do so, as no indexing paragraphs have been removed.
Loading status:
- The new data has been added to the Derwent Innovations Index, which means that an automatic fragmentation code search of DII will now retrieve references throughout the whole of the file and not just from 1981
- Now available on Questel.Orbit, STN and Dialog
